Create AI-Generated Vocal Tracks Using Ace Studio and Logic Pro
Jan 09, 2025Today, we’re diving into a tool called Ace Studio, an AI singing voice generator. This software is a game-changer for those of us who aren’t great singers, but still want to create our own vocal tracks for our songs. With Ace Studio, you can either play in MIDI notes or sing them yourself and let an AI-generated voice bring your lyrics and melodies to life. Let’s jump right in!
Step 1: Preparing Your Track in Logic Pro (or any DAW)
I started with an instrumental track in Logic Pro that didn’t have any vocals yet. The first step was to decide how to add vocals. Ace Studio gives you two main options:
-
Input your melody using MIDI and type in lyrics.
-
Record your own voice and have it replaced with an AI-generated singer.
Using MIDI Input
For this demo, I began by inputting the melody with a MIDI keyboard. Here’s how I did it:
-
Loaded a simple piano patch in Logic Pro to play the melody.
-
Recorded the melody line with my MIDI keyboard.
-
Typed out the lyrics ahead of time to input later in Ace Studio.
After recording, I exported the MIDI file and bounced the instrumental track without the piano part.
Step 2: Working in Ace Studio
When you open Ace Studio, the interface includes tracks for singers and audio. I imported the MIDI and reference track I created in Logic Pro. Before proceeding, I made sure to match the tempo in Ace Studio with my Logic Pro project (75 BPM in this case).
Inputting Lyrics
Once the MIDI file was loaded, I began inputting lyrics:
-
Selected each note and added the corresponding lyric.
-
Adjusted syllables and pitch where needed.
-
Fine-tuned pronunciation using the phonetic editor in Ace Studio.
Trying Different AI Voices
Ace Studio offers a variety of AI-generated singers. I started with "Amber Rose" and later experimented with other voices like "Drex L" to find the best match.
Step 3: Recording and Replacing Your Voice
Next, I tested Ace Studio’s ability to replace a scratch vocal with an AI-generated singer. Here’s how I did it:
-
Recorded my own voice in Logic Pro (not my strong suit, but it’s all part of the process!).
-
Exported the recording as a solo track and imported it into Ace Studio.
-
Used Ace Studio’s “Vocal to MIDI and Lyrics” tool to convert my scratch vocal into a polished AI performance.
This method captured the natural rhythm and phrasing of my original vocal while improving accuracy and sound quality.
Step 4: Enhancing the Vocals
Once I had a solid vocal track, I explored additional features in Ace Studio:
-
Adding Breath: Adjusted the amount of air and energy in the voice for a more natural feel.
-
Creating Doubles and Harmonies: Used the “Create Vocal Doubles” feature to add depth and layered harmonies for a fuller sound.
-
Exporting Back to Logic Pro: Selected the final vocal takes, exported them as audio, and imported them back into Logic for final mixing.
Final Touches in Logic Pro
Back in Logic Pro, I applied effects to polish the vocals:
-
Imported a vocal channel strip preset with reverb, EQ, and compression.
-
Balanced the main vocal with harmonies for a cohesive mix.
-
Integrated the vocal track into the instrumental, creating a finished song.
Why Use Ace Studio?
For me, this tool is incredibly helpful. It functions like any other software instrument, allowing you to craft vocal performances without needing to sing. While it won’t replace real singers, it’s perfect for demos or creating a clear reference for professional vocalists.
